Mistakes (Part 3)
The last post in this series is about the joys and blessings (benefits) of honoring the Lord with our relationships. There’s REASONS we should exercise self-control and flee from all sexual temptations. It’s not just about rules at all; it’s about getting closer to Jesus.
First, you become more like Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 calls it sanctification. By practicing the same disciplines Jesus did we become more like him.
Eternal life with your Creator! Ephesians 5:5-14 paraphrase: Don’t give yourself to sexual sin that brings death. Give yourself to Jesus, the giver of LIFE.
Third, it prepares you for marriage in a proper way. Instead of entering marriage with a slew of sexual sin on your résumé, start it off with a clean slate. Although, the Bible DOES offer hope to those who’s résumé is full of past mistakes and regrets. 1 Peter 2:24.
Practically, it produces a much better relationship and marriage. If both parties are on the same page regarding sexual temptation and it’s always open for discussion and it’s not ‘too awkward’ then it can be a profound method of building that friendship. Two people pursuing Jesus, serving & honoring each another- it’s awesome. It’s worth it.
Be encouraged. Stand firm. Seek the Lord. He will not disappoint.
